Countrysides
Both sides of the hunting ban
On the day the Hunting Act is passed, hunt supporters in Parliament Square have their world turned upside down. Tempers fray, the police step in and on the edge of the crowd, a hunt master and a saboteur find a fragile human connection.

The play was researched over four years, with support from both sides. This process was made possible by a seeding commission from The Drum Theatre Plymouth, and a public performed reading at the Ustinov theatre in Bath directed by David Prescott. The play is neither pro nor anti hunt, but aims to go beyond the sound-bite to show the mirrored passion and commitment of both sides.
'Countysides' is an original Afternoon Drama for Radio 4. It was first broadcast March 2011, starring Tim McInnery and Russell Tovey. The drama was recorded partly on location at a riding stables and in the surrounding country, with a participating horse.
